Volkswagen Planning to Launch Golf GTI In India

In a surprising turn, car manufacturer Volkswagen is planning to launch its Golf GTI in India. Volkswagen has confirmed that they are launching the Performance car in India. Back in 2016, Volkswagen launched the Polo GTI hatchback in India and it happened to be a huge success for the German brand. The Polo GTI hatchback is one of the most popular cars in India. But later Volkswagen discontinued the Polo GTI in India and didn’t even launch the latest facelifted model. Customers in India are still requesting Volkswagen to reintroduce the Polo GTI in India. But it is the Golf GTI that is coming into the country.

New Golf GTI India Launch and Price

Volkswagen is planning to introduce the Golf GTI after July 2025. The new Volkswagen Golf GTI is being brought through the government’s homologation-free import route. Under this route, only 25000 vehicle units are allowed to be imported.

The upcoming Golf GTI will be priced excessively since it is getting imported from outside. Customers should expect the upcoming Golf GTI to be priced between 32 – 38 lakh, ex-showroom, India. The Golf GTI will come only in a single variant in India.

In India, Golf GTI is expected to emerge as a success. However, it is going to be priced quite high. It will rival several cars in the same price range.

The Volkswagen Golf GTI is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 265hp and 370Nm of torque. The engine comes paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic that directs power to the front wheels.

The Volkswagen Golf GTI has a stylish and aggressive exterior look. It gets 18-inch ‘Richmond’ diamond-cut alloy wheels with GTI badges and contrasting red bits. It also gets Matrix LED headlights and 3D LED tail lights.

In the inner, it gets a 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen and several other features. Since the Golf GTI is a performance car, it does not have any amazing tech features.
