Mercedes Benz has finally revealed the new SL 55 AMG. It is Mercedes Benz’s one of the most desirable cars. The SL 55 AMG is a two-seater sports convertible car with an AMG engine. The SL 55 AMG is sold globally and the new model has been launched in India.
New Mercedes Benz SL 55 AMG
Mercedes Benz India has launched the new SL 55 AMG at Rs 2.35 crore, ex-showroom price. It is quite expensive as it features an AMG engine. The SL 55 AMG comes through the CBU route and has 2+2 seating with a fabric rooftop.
The new SL 55 AMG measures 4,705mm long, 1,915mm wide, and has a height of 1,359mm. It has a wheelbase of 117mm.
Mercedes Benz India has said that all units of SL 55 AMG that arrived in India are already sold. Customers booked the car even before its launch. The SL 55 AMG will be available for potential customers from next year.
The SL 55 AMG is the seventh generation of the SL series. The SL has replaced Mercedes Benz’s S-Class cabriolet that sold a year ago. The new SL gets the ‘55’ AMG name back.
Mercedes Benz SL 55 AMG Powertrain
The new Mercedes Benz SL 55 AMG is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo, V8 petrol engine that produces 476hp and 700Nm and comes mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox, which leads power to all four wheels via Merc’s 4Matic+ system. The new SL 55 AMG can sprint from 0 to 100 in 3.9 seconds.

The new SL 55 AMG comes with a new stylish exterior look. It gets a large Panamericana front grille, angular LED headlight, a heavily raked windscreen, a long bonnet with two power domes, quad exhausts, 20-inch alloy wheels, and 21-inch alloy wheels.
The SL 55 AMG comes with eight exterior paint schemes: Obsidian black, Selenite grey, Hyper blue, Alpine grey, Patagonia red bright, Opalite white bright, Spectral blue magno, and Monza grey magno. It also gets three fabric rooftop paint schemes: Dark red, Grey, and Black.
Mercedes Benz SL 55 AMG Interior
The new Mercedes Benz SL 55 AMG gets the same dashboard as the S-Class and C-Class. It comes with an 11.9-inch vertically oriented touchscreen. The touchscreen can be adjusted to sit at angles between 12deg and 32deg. The touchscreen runs the latest generation of Mercedes’ MBUX operating system. The touchscreen comes paired with a 12.3-inch LCD driver display and an optional heads-up display behind the AMG twin-spoke steering wheel.
Mercedes Benz offers five interior upholstery options: Sienna brown Nappa leather, Truffle brown Nappa, Black Nappa leather and microfibre with red stitching, Black Nappa leather, leather and Black Nappa leather and microfibre with yellow stitching.
The new SL 55 AMG has several features such as wireless charging, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, 360-degree camera, reverse and front parking sensors, a Burmester sound system, and many more.
Mercedes Benz SL 55 AMG Price and Rivals
The Mercedes Benz SL 55 AMG is priced at Rs 2.89 crore, on-road price in Mumbai. It presently has no rival in India until Porsche relaunches its 911 Carrera S Cabriolet in India.
