New LWB BMW 5 Series Finally Arrives In India

The BMW 5 Series has been one of the highest-selling luxury sedans worldwide. In India, the BMW 5 series has been one of the most preferred cars among buyers. The previous generation BMW 5 Series was quite popular in India. Now, BMW India has launched the new massively facelifted BMW 5 Series with new exterior, interior design, and tech upgrades. The new BMW 5 Series comes as an LWB variant (Long Wheel Base).

The new BMW 5 Series is completely changed as compared to the outgoing and previous generation models. The dashboard and interior are fine and pleasing. But on the exterior, especially on the rear part, BMW has not done a great job on the design. Not many are fans of the rear part of the new BMW 5 Series.

New BMW 5 Series engine

The new BMW 5 Series gets a 2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a 48V mild hybrid system that produces 254bhp and 400Nm mated to the 8-speed gearbox. Its 8-speed automatic gearbox sends power to just the rear wheels. As claimed by BMW India, the new BMW 5 Series can sprint from 0 to 100kmph in 6.5 seconds with a top speed of 250kph.

The new BMW 5 Series is the longest car in the segment, thanks to its long wheel base variant measuring 3,105mm. The new BMW 5 Series is 212mm longer than the outgoing model and it is 100mm longer than its rival the Mercedes Benz E Class.

The new BMW 5 Series gets two exterior paint options: Aluminum Satinated and Titanium Bronze.

The new BMW 5 Series comes with larger kidney grilles that are now illuminated. It also gets a new DRL design with sleek headlights and tail lights. The new 5 Series gets 18-inch wheels as standard, but 19-inch wheels are optional.

The new BMW 5 Series borrows some interior elements and features from the BMW 7 Series. It now gets a curved display with a 14.9-inch infotainment screen and a 12.3-inch instrument cluster which has the newest BMW OS 8.5. The upholstery of the new BMW 5 Series gets a new dual-tone color. It gets features such as front-seat ventilation, four-zone climate control, leather upholstery with diamond-pattern quilting, matrix LED headlamps, an 18-speaker, 655W Bowers & Wilkins sound system, and six USB-C ports.

With the new long wheel base variant, the new BMW 5 Series now directly rivals the Mercedes Benz E Class. Mercedes Benz India has been selling the E Class in long wheel base for several years now. Also, Mercedes Benz India has launched the new facelifted E Class which is brilliant.

The BMW 5 Series also rivals the Audi A6 sedan. However, the current generation Audi A6 was launched in 2020 and is yet to receive a facelift. But, Audi is launching the new A6 in India in 2025.

The BMW 5 Series also rivals the Volvo S90 and Lexus ES.

The new BMW 5 Series is rightly priced. The BMW 5 Series 530Li M Sports is priced at 86.62 lakh, on-road price in Mumbai.
