In the US, Jeep offers Grand Cherokee L which is the bigger version of the car.
New Jeep Grand Cherokee
The new Jeep Grand Cherokee is launched with a starting price of Rs 77.5 lakh, ex-showroom. Jeep India has said that they are going to hike the prices of all models in the coming months. The previous generation Jeep Grand Cherokee was launched at Rs 65 lakh, ex-showroom. Also, the previous generation Jeep Grand Cherokee was imported to India, whereas the current generation Jeep Grand Cherokee is locally assembled in India.
After North America, India is the first market for Jeep where the new Grand Cherokee is getting assembled.
The new Jeep Grand Cherokee rivals plenty of luxury cars priced in the same range.
New Jeep Grand Cherokee Powertrain
The previous generation Jeep Grand Cherokee was offered in petrol and diesel variants but the new generation Jeep Grand Cherokee is only offered in a single petrol variant.
The new Grand Cherokee is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 272hp of power and 400Nm of peak torque. The engine comes paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. It sends power to all four wheels. The new Grand Cherokee gets Snow, Auto, Sports, Mud, and Sand drive modes.
New Jeep Grand Cherokee Exterior
The new Jeep Grand Cherokee gets a completely new exterior design. It is more bulky and more stylish than the previous generation model. In fact, the new Grand Cherokee resembles the Jeep Grand Wagoneer that is sold outside of India. The new Grand Cherokee gets a seven-slat grille lined by sleek LED headlamps and a bumper down below with wide side and central air intakes. At the rear, it gets LED tail lamps with a chunky rear bumper.
New Jeep Grand Cherokee Interior and Features
The new Jeep Grand Cherokee has a new interior design with several new features. It gets a 10.1-inch touchscreen with HVAC controls below. Jeep is also offering a 10.1-inch screen embedded in the dashboard for the front passenger. It gets features like a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof, reclining seats, rear seat entertainment screens, ventilated front seats, a powered tailgate, a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a 10-inch head-up display, a wireless charging pad, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and leather upholstery.
In India, the Jeep Grand Cherokee comes as a five-seater SUV, whereas it is being offered in three-row and seven seats in the US.
New Jeep Grand Cherokee Price and Rivals
The new Jeep Grand Cherokee, Limited (O) 4×4 variant is priced at Rs 80.24 lakh, on-road price in Mumbai.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee directly rivals the likes of the Mercedes Benz GLE, BMW X5, Range Rover Velar, Mercedes Benz GLC, and Volvo XC 60.
