Japanese car manufacturer Toyota has launched the new Camry in India. It is the ninth-generation generation and facelifted model that has been launched in India. The Toyota Camry has been launched with an introductory price of 48 lakh. The car is available for a price of 56 lakh, on-road in Mumbai. The new Camry is 1.83 lakhs more expensive than the previous model.
The current and latest generation of Camry is launched in India in December. But outside of India, the car was launched over a year ago in the international market. The new Camry comes with a fresh new look and stylish exterior design. It also comes with a four-cylinder engine for the hybrid powertrain. Toyota India has announced that they are aiming to deliver the new Camry soon.
Toyota Camry rivals in India
At 56 lakhs, the Toyota Camry is one of the best prime sedan cars available in India. However, Skoda’s upcoming 2025 Superb sedan is going to give tough competition to the Toyota Camry. Upon its launch, the new Skoda Superb might be less priced than the Toyota Camry. Toyota Camry also challenges the Mercedes C Class, BMW 3 series, Audi A4, Kia EV6, and the electric BYD Seal.
Toyota Camry engine and powertrain
The new Toyota Camry comes with three drive modes – sport, eco, and normal. It produces 184bhp of power and 221Nm of torque, while the hybrid produces 134bhp of power and 208Nm of torque using a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine coupled to an e-CVT working in tandem with an electric motor. Toyota India offers an 8-year and 1.6 lakh km warranty on the battery of the new Camry. The new Toyota Camry will be locally assembled at Toyota’s Bidadi plant in Karnataka. Toyota Camry petrol-hybrid powertrain claims to offer 25 kmpl of fuel efficiency.
Toyota Camry interior
Toyota has completely revised the interior of the Camry. The new dashboard comes with a 12.3-inch infotainment screen with a 9-speaker JBL music system, Android Auto, and wireless Apple CarPlay. On the driving seat, Toyota Camry offers a 12.3-inch multifunction display and, 10-way power adjustment for the driver’s seat. The Camry offers a 3-zone automatic climate control, a wireless charger, ADAS safety features, and a 360-degree camera.
The rear seat of the new Camry offers reclining functions as well with a panoramic sunroof and 10-way powered front seats. The car offers nine airbags in total.
Toyota Camry exterior
The present generation Toyota Camry is made on the TNGA-K stage. Like all the Toyota models, the new Camry adopts the Toyota brand’s “Hammerhead” design language. It also includes a sharp nose, slim LED headlights with daytime running lights, and a re-positioned “T” logo on the grille. The bumper design, redesigned 18-inch alloy wheels and C-shaped LED tail lamps.
Toyota offers the new Camry in six exterior colors: Precious Metal, Cement Grey, Emotional Red, Dark Blue, Attitude Black, and Platinum White Pearl.
The dimensions of the new Toyota Camry are length: 4920 mm, width: 1840 mm, height: 1455 mm, wheelbase: 2825mm and alloy wheels: 18-inch.
Verdict
At a price of 56 lakhs, on-road, the Toyota Camry is an expensive sedan car. However, it is an excellent choice for buyers looking to buy a premium and lengthy sedan. Buyers who do not wish to spend more on luxury brands such as Mercedes Benz, Audi, and BMW can opt for the new Toyota Camry. The waiting period for the new Camry is less than two months. However, Skoda is launching their premium sedan Superb early in 2025. Buyers in India can wait for Skoda to launch Superb in India. Superb is going to be far better than the Toyota Camry.
