BMW India has launched the new facelifted two-seater convertible BMW Z4 Roadster. The sports car is launched in India at Rs 89.30 lakh, ex-showroom. The new Z4 Roadster is five lakhs more expensive than the outgoing model. The new Z4 Roadster comes with minimal changes and a few tech upgrades. It remains mechanically unchanged.
BMW Z4 Roaster
The new BMW Z4 4 Roadster is one of the most affordable sports convertible two-seater cars. It enjoys a huge fan following in India as it is not overpriced and seems quite stylish. The new Z4 Roadster comes to India through the CBU route.
BMW Z4 Roadster Powertrain
The powertrain and engine of Z4 remain unchanged. It retains the same engine as the outgoing model. The new Z4 Roadster is powered by a 340hp, 500Nm, 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged inline-six-cylinder engine. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission that delivers drive to the rear wheels only.
The new Z4 comes as the M Sport variant and gets the trademark BMW M Sport fittings such as M Sport brakes, M Sport suspension, three driving modes, cruise control with braking functions, M Sport differential, and launch control. BMW has claimed that the new Z4 can sprint from 0 to 100 in 4.5 seconds.
BMW Z4 Roadster Exterior
The new BMW Z4 Roadster looks the same as the outgoing model. However, it gets a new 19-inch alloy wheels. The Z4 Roadster is a convertible car with a fabric roof-top. BMW claims that the rooftop can open or close in 10 seconds at the touch of a button. The new Z4 gets a reshaped front bumper. Rest, the new Z4 is the same as the previous Z4.
BMW Z4 Roadster Interior
Moving to the interior, the new Z4 is once again the same inside as the outgoing model. Surprisingly, the new Z4 does not come with BMW’s trademark curved display. It gets the same dashboard and display as the old model. However, the trim and upholstery are updated. It gets a mix of leather and Alcantara upholstery with contrast blue stitching and piping. Since it comes as an M Sports variant, the new Z4 gets M Sports customized seats and steering wheel.
The features of the new Z4 include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the latest iDrive 7.0 operating system, wireless charging, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, dual-zone AC, 4 airbags, dynamic traction control, digital driver’s display, ambient lighting, powered driver and passenger seat with memory function, dual-zone AC, connected car features, adaptive headlamps, anthracite silver effect for the soft-top roof, Harman Kardon sound system, driving assistant, active cruise control, head-up display, parking assist, dynamic stability control, cornering brake control and more. The rear storage space is improved.
BMW Z4 Roadster Price and Rivals
The new BMW Z4 Roadster is priced at Rs 1.08 crore, on-road price in Mumbai. The Z4 is the cheapest two-seater convertible car in India.
The BMW Z4 Roadster has no direct rival in India. The Porsche 718 Boxster convertible (Rs 1.58 crore, ex-showroom) is discontinued in India and it was much more expensive than the Z4.
Although, Mercedes’s four-seater convertible cars CLE Cabriolet and E53 AMG Cabriolet rivals the Z4. But, both Mercedes convertibles are more expensive than the Z4. CLE Cabriolet is priced at 1.28 crore, on-road price, and E53 AMG Cabriolet is priced at 1.55 crore, on-road price.
Without a doubt, the BMW Z4 Roadster is the best convertible two-seater sports car. It is stylish and fairly priced. However, it does miss out on a lot of features.
The deliveries of the BMW Z4 have commenced. It does have a waiting period of a few weeks. Customers can book the car online through BMW’s India website.
